The Lost Special

CW for discussion of sexual abuse and capital punishment.

Originally published in The Strand in 1898, i.e. during the hiatus years, this would be collected with a bunch of other Doyle stories in the Round the Fire Stories collection released in 1898. Doyle continued to have stories regularly published during the hiatus.

The London and West Coast Railway Company is fictitious; the company that operated the line discussed in this route was the London and North Western Railway (LNWR), the biggest revenue earner of the period due to the sheer size of its operations. It would become part of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) in 1922 during "Grouping" i.e. the merger of British railway companies into four major ones. The LNWR name came back as the London Northwestern Railway brand of West Midlands Trains in 2017, operating commuter and semi-fast services from Euston. That franchise is due to operate until 2026, at which point, considering the likely result of the upcoming election, it will be nationalised. What happens to the name after that remains to be seen.

Liverpool Central refers to two stations. The one here is the six-platform "High Level" station, opened in 1874 as the headquarters of the Cheshire Lines Committee (CLC) and offering services to Manchester Central, London St. Pancras or even Harwich for the ferry services to the Netherlands. The CLC remained independent after Grouping

There was also, slightly to the North West. the 1892-opened "Low Level" station, that was underground, opened by the Mersey Railway, but with staircase access to the High Level one and provision for a through railway connection left to that station if it was decided to join the two lines. This operated local trains towards Birkenhead using the world's second underground railway after London. This also stayed its own operation after Grouping in 1922; both companies would become part of British Railways on nationalisation in 1948.

In 1966, the Beeching Axe saw the High Level station have nearly all its services diverted to Liverpool Lime Street, with only those to Gateacre still calling there. BR wanted to stop those entirely, but local opposition prevented that. With no need for six platforms, two become a car park and the station ended up with just one functional platform in 1970, ending up in rather a state of decay. It shut entirely in 1972 and was demolished, the Gateacre services going, along with the whole North Liverpool Extension Line.

The Low Level station, however, still very busy, would have better fortunes - it would become the centre piece of the new Merseyrail network. The station was renovated, the two lines were linked and today Liverpool Central is one of the busiest stations in the UK outside of Greater London. However, the eastern part of the planned loop, including services to Gateacre, fell victim to budget cuts in the late 1970s.

Rochdale is a town in the Greater Manchester area - at the time it was a textiles hub, but that very much declined from the 1950s and the place has acquired a bad reputation. In 2012, a child sex abuse ring involving British Pakistanis "grooming" white girls was convicted in a high-profile trial and the resulting public reaction was, to put it mildly, racially-tinged. It also came out that the town's deceased former MP (who had in fact been knighted), one Cyril Smith, was a paedophile.

"Specials" refer to trains arranged outside the usual timetable, often in connection with some event. These included football excursions (or FOOTEX in BR parlance) carrying fans to away games around the country. In the hooligan-heavy 1970s and 1980s, BR would use older carriages due to the frequency of them getting damaged by drunken supporters, the whole thing becoming a policing headache. Others included various enthusiast-oriented journeys and "Merrymaker" mystery trips, usually to a seaside destination.

The main companies do not really do these today in anything like the numbers they used to, but various private companies have stepped in, including a West Coast Railways Company oddly enough, that provides the rolling stock, locomotives and drivers for the Jacobite tourist service from Fort William to Mailaig. These charter trains can be found operating multiple times a week, being sold through various different companies. Most use heritage rolling stock with vintage steam or diesel engines involved, with a variety of types catering to your tastes, although a big wallet is generally needed. Like at least £100 for standard class without dining and even then the schedule might not be the most convenient; these trains are planned around the regular services and you might have a long wait sitting in sidings for the next bit of your path to be clear.

In any event, the special train would have cost around £5,412 adjusted for inflation. However, a cursory glance suggests it would actually cost far more to do that today - hence the high prices modern "specials" charge passengers.

Signal boxes were required to log the details of trains passing through - the type could be identified by various lights arranged on the front and later the specific service by four-character codes. Today this is done electronically and monitored at larger control centres - older boxes have generally closed, with some being transported to heritage railways for their use. I would assume that the stations not mentioned did not have their own signal box.

In terms of the stations mentioned here, these were on the 1830-opened Liverpool and Manchester Railway, the first intercity railway in the world.

This route is today part of the City Line in the Merseytravel Network - trains are today operated by Northern or TransPenine Express. It was electrified in 2015. For each station in turn...

St Helens Junction: Still open.

Collins Green: Closed 1951.

Earlestown: Still open, despite being listed for closure in the 1963 Beeching Report.

Newton-le-Willows: Still open. Even had a Motorail terminal for a while, but this is long gone.

Kenyon Junction: Closed to passengers 1961, shut entirely 1963. Various locals have called for reopening it.

Parliamentary trains are those which railway companies had a legal obligation to operate - basically to provide cheap services for workers. This could mean one train per day on a route. Some did the bare minimum, some did a lot more. With this requirement no longer around, the term has evolved to mean services run at the legal minimum, even as low as one train a week, because it's cheaper to do that rather than go through a closure process. In some cases, the route would be used for engineering work diversions and so it is needed to keep up driver familarity. Current examples include Pilning, which has two trains a week on a Saturday. The most notable is Teeside Airport, which is meant to serve the airport of that name that operates four to six passenger flights a day, but is a fifteen-minute walk away, so getting a bus is much more preferred. This got one train westbound a week until May 2022, when its platform was deemed unsafe and Teeside International Airport refuses to pay for repairs.

Railway companies had their own police forces; these would later come under the British Transport Police.

Many mines and industrial planets had connections to the national network for transporting goods like coal or clay; BR even developed a "Merry-Go-Round" system allowing hoppers to be filled up and emptied while moving at a very slow speed to save time on shunting; newer versions are still in use, despite the coal market having massively declined. Mines would have their own engines - the nationalised National Coal Board kept steam locomotives going until 1982, 14 years after BR stopped using them, with some of their former engines now featuring on preserved lines.

The Vistula river runs through central Poland, including Warsaw.

Many mines would be closed once their seams were worked out to the point of it being now longer economical to run; some are now tourist attractions, at least in limited sections.

France used the guillotine for capital punishment until the abolition of that in 1977. It would also be extensively used, in a slightly different form in the German states, including extensively by the Nazis, until 1966, when East Germany switched to shooting people in the back of the head.

New Caledonia is a French territory in the Southern Pacific that was used as a penal colony at the time; it is currently in a state of political turmoil in a row over expanding the franchise to cover more recent arrivals, something opposed by indigenous groups seeking independence. The proposal has been suspended at time of writing due to France's upcoming elections.

Vampire CLC reaction to biting their s/o for the first time

Seunghee

Seunghee had a stressful day behind her and when she looked into the fridge, she cursed underneath her breath. She had forgotten to bring new blood bags, but she hadn’t eaten anything in a week.

“Is everything ok?”

You asked from behind her and she turned around quickly.

“Yeah sure. Everything’s fine.”

Seunghee said as nonchalantly as possible, but you had seen through her lie.

“You know, you can just drink from me. That’s the advantage of living with a human.”

You said while you kept reading your book, already knowing that Seunghee would deny. You had been dating for over a year now and Seunghee thought it would be irresponsible to drink from your own partner. She sat down beside you, pondering where she could get something to eat. She was too exhausted to hunt, and she couldn’t just walk into a hospital and steal some blood bags.

While your girlfriend was deeply concentrated, you used the chance to climb on her lap, making your girlfriend’s eyes widen.

“Don’t be so stubborn.”

You said sternly, while exposing your neck and tilting your head to the side to give Seunghee access. She was staring at your pulse point and you could see that she wanted to feed, so you pushed her head forward with her hand until her lips met your neck.

You winced a little when her teeth sunk into your skin, making her look at you for allowance, but when you nodded, she immediately started to feed on you. When a moan left your mouth, because you were beginning to feel lightheaded, Seunghee pushed you to your feet, bringing some distance between the two of you lightning-fast.

“I-I’m sorry.”

She stammered ashamed, thinking that she had overstepped some boundaries, but you stepped forward again, taking her hand in yours.

“It’s fine. I’m ok.”

You assured her, making a sight of relief leave your girlfriend’s lips.

Seungyeon

Seungyeon had told you pretty early on in your relationship that she was a vampire and you never really made a big deal out of it. It was a part of herself and you couldn’t help but think that she actually looked quite sexy when she showed you her vampire eyes. Which happened quite often, because she could never control that side of herself when she made out with you.

Right now she was hovering above you, while her tongue was dancing with yours inside of your mouth and her hands were roaming your whole body. When she pulled back to allow both of you to get some air, she looked deeply into your eyes before her gaze wandered further down and rested on your pulse point that was heavily visible right now because of all the adrenaline that was rushing through your body.

“Do you want to...?”

You trailed off the end of your question, but Seungyeon knew what you were referring to, immediately snapping her eyes back to look into yours.

“I-I’m sorry.”

She stammered, ashamed that you had caught her playing with the thought of feeding from you.

“It’s ok. Come on.”

You encouraged her, grabbing her neck to guide her mouth to your neck.

Her gaze flickered to your eyes a last time to make sure that you really wanted her to, but when you nodded your head, she softly grazed her teeth across your pulse point, making a moan escape your mouth. Hearing your reaction, she couldn’t control her impulses anymore, sinking her teeth into your skin and feeding from you.

She felt like on drugs from drinking your blood, but she didn’t want to exhaust you too much, so she quickly removed her teeth again from your neck, instead kissing it up until she reached your mouth again.

“You are so pretty.”

She whispered, making you pull her closer to your body again.

Yujin

If you had to describe your girlfriend with just a few words, you would describe her as the friendly vampire from next door. You had met each other when Yujin was out to hunt and opted to feed from a rabbit, because she didn’t want to feed from humans. But when she held the rabbit in her hands, she just couldn’t hurt it. You watched the scene in front of you without her noticing that you were behind her until you had to chuckle, because it was actually quite funny after your shock had died down.

Since then you started to be inseparable and you eventually also started dating. But Yujin’s problem with hunting still hadn’t been solved. Opposing to films, it was not that easy to steal a huge amount of blood bags, but your girlfriend just didn’t want to attack random people on the street. So you found another solution.

“Are you sure about this?”

Yujin asked you with regret bubbling inside of her to have agreed to your proposition.

“Jagi, it’s fine. I trust you. You can feed from me, so you don’t have to hurt random people without their consent.”

Feeding from you actually made sense to Yujin, but she still felt bad about hurting her girlfriend.

“Let’s just try it. And if it hurts too much, we’ll find another solution.”

You assured her and Yujin nodded. Slowly she came closer to you until she was standing right in front of you.

With a smile she looked into your eyes while grabbing your arm and guiding it to her mouth. She gave you a quick peck on your wrist, making you giggle, before she slowly dug her teeth into your skin. Yujin kept her eyes interlocked with you during the whole time to assure that she wasn’t hurting you. When she had enough, she removed her mouth again and looked sheepishly to the floor.

“Thank you, jagi.”

She mumbled quietly.

“Of course, what are girlfriends for?”

You joked, making Yujin laugh who shoved your shoulder in response.

“Stop this isn’t funny.”

She scolded you before giving you a quick peck on your lips.

Sorn

When Sorn had first told you that she was a vampire, you laughed at her, not believing a single word she was saying. She had to show you her eyes before you flinched a bit, still considering whether she was pranking you. But when you saw  her desperate gaze in need for you to believe her, you let her tell you her story.

But you had already loved her too much to ever leave her. So you just accepted that you would date a vampire from now on, which also didn’t really affect your relationship that much. You still pretty much did the same things as before and Sorn also never showed any signs that she was seduced to feed from you. Which didn’t mean, however, that she wasn’t.

In reality, she often found herself staring at your neck, because she really loved your smell. She always wondered whether you would taste as great as she thought you would. But she always tried to push back those thoughts as quickly as possible. She was embarrassed to think such things in the first place, so she never talked with you about it.

Today was no different. You were filming one of Sorn’s vlogs in a park by a river when she couldn’t help to notice how gorgeous you looked in the sunlight. Carelessly you plopped down in front of her while she was sitting on the floor, pressing your back against her chest. You were saying something, but Sorn could only focus on your neck.

“Sorn?”

You asked concerned after she hadn’t answered your question although you had asked her at least three times.

When you saw her looking at your neck, you immediatley knew what was going on in her mind. But you didn’t make a big deal out of it. She was a vampire, of course she had the desire to feed. So you stayed seated, but tilted your head to the side, and Sorn almost jumped to her feet in shock, but you held her back.

“Y/N! I can’t feed from you. And here are people everywhere.”

Sorn exclaimed nervously, but you just shrugged your shoulders.

“Why not? A few sips won’t kill me. Plus everyone will simply think that we’re young people in love that are making out. So, bon appetit.”

Sorn was taken aback by how realaxed you were about this whole situation. Carefully she inched her mouth closer to your neck. She was nervously shifting her gaze from your pulse point, to your eyes to the people surrounding you, but you calmy smiled at her. Therefore, she dug her teeth into your neck, humming while the first sip of blood ran down her throat, because you tasted exactly as good as she imagined you to.

You giggled after a while at how much Sorn was enjoying this and she pulled back in embarrassment. You looked at her with still the same amount of love in your eyes as before and Sorn hid her head in the crook of your neck. She couldn’t believe how lucky she had gotten with you.

Yeeun

Yeeun and you had started dating before she was turned into a vampire. One night, she had walked home alone, and another vampire attacked her. After she had woken up again, she felt so lost and cold, immediately searching for you, because she was in need of your comfort. You were worried sick and when you wrapped your arms around her in relief, she realized that something was different. She had wanted to run away, but you accepted her in her new form, begging her to stay. So she did.

Yeeun loved you more than anything, so she would never want to hurt you, but it was still hard for her to be around you. Her attraction towards you was so strong and sometimes she just couldn’t control herself.

You were sitting on the couch, watching TV, when Yeeun suddenly was aware again of just how good you smelled. She could hear your heart pumping the blood through your veins and she could feel her desire to feed from you welling up inside her.

You immediately noticed her changed demeanor, grabbing her hand to make her look at you. Ashamed of herself, Yeeun sheepishly looked to the floor, but you didn’t want her to be ashamed.

“Yeeun, it’s fine. I trust you.”

You assured her, but Yeeun shook her head.

“But I don’t trust myself. I don’t want to hurt you.”

She said sadly, but you couldn’t let her hate herself. Therefore, you pulled her closer, not stopping to assure her that you would be fine. Yeeun really didn’t want to hurt you, but her desire was way too strong to resist you, so she softly put her hand behind your neck to steady it while she sunk her teeth into you.

She could have immediately lost herself in the taste of your blood, but she couldn’t let that happen. You were way too precious to her. Yeeun only drank the bare minimum, before pulling away again and leaving a kiss on the spot of the bite.

“I love you.”

She smiled sweetly and you pulled her into a kiss.

Elkie

Meeting Elkie was exactly like it was shown in movies. She walked past you and you were immediatley in trance just by looking at her. Her beauty was overwehelming and the aura she held around her, was purely majestic. You weren’t even aware of the fact that you were staring until she made her way over to you and you nervously wanted to hide. But she didn’t let you slip away.

Later she told you that she was hungry that day and you seemed to be an easy victim. But her intentions quickly changed, because after talking with you for a few minutes, she loved your sweet and clumsy personality, wanting to be closer to you. Normally she kept her distance to humans, because she didn’t like to get attached to them and then having to lie about her true identity.

But with you it was different. You had asked her out on a date and she completely lost her cool, starting to blush instead. She just couldn’t say no to you and after your fifth date, she revealed her true identity to you. Elkie thought you would run, but you didn’t. You accepted her and so you started dating.

She was still a little hesitant about showing you her vampire side, but you really didn’t seem to care.

“Jagi?”

You asked her while you were lounging around in your apartment, each being immerged into their own things and Elkie hummed in response.

“Does it hurt to be bitten?”

You asked her and Elkie looked up from what she was doing, meeting your curious gaze.

“It stings a bit in the beginning, but then the vampire venom makes you kind of high.”

She explained and she could see that there was another question bugging you.

“Can...can you bite me?”

You asked hesistantly and Elkie was a bit taken aback. But she understood the appeal of being bitten. An inner conflict arose in her, because she wanted to fulfill all your wishes, but on the other hand, she was also unsure whether she could stop once she strted to feed from you.

But she eventually gave in to your puppy dog eyes. She sat beside you, softly stroking your hair from your neck, while explaining exactly to you how you would feel after the bite. When you were still sure about it, she sunk her teeth into your neck, monitoring your heartbeat with her vampire hearing, so she didn’t drink too much.

After she removed her teeth again and you started to feel the effect of the venom, she let you rest your head on her shoulder while she ran her hand through your hair. She smiled contenly, because feeding from you showed her that she truly loved you. Not once was she close to losing control.

Eunbin

Were vampires terrifying creatures? Yes. Was your girlfriend a vampire? Yes. Was she terrifying though? Absolutely not. Your relationship was actually quite normal, because Eunbin never really used her vampire powers and she just looked incredibly cute. Sometimes you even thought that she forgot herself that she was a vampire.

Especially on days like this.

You were cooking in the kitchen while your girlfriend was giving you a private concert in the living room, blasting music through the speakers and singing along to her favorite songs. You laughed at her sight, but soon noticed how exhausted she seemed, so you made your way over to her.

“Jagi? When have you eaten the last time?”

Her brow furrowed and you sighted. She had to think much too long about that question.

“Um... a while ago?”

She answered while avoiding your gaze, knowing that you wanted her to feed frequently, because although she was immortal, you knew that she was in pain when she didn’t eat in so long.

And now that you payed attention to it, you also realized how drained her body looked. Therefore, you took her hand, guiding her so the couch where you both sat down. You opened the first buttons of your button up and Eunbin looked at you with wide eyes.

“What are you doing?”

She asked perplexed and you had to stifle your laugh, because she looked like a deer caught in the headlights.

“Exposing my neck, so you can feed from me.”

You stated as if it were the most normal thing on earth.

“W-What?”

Eunbin stuttered, so you repeated yourself.

“You’re going to feed from me, because you are exhausted and hungry.”

Your girlfriend’s mouth dropped open in shock.

“But what if I can’t stop?”

She asked nervously and you grabbed her hand.

“Jagi, you can’t even hurt a fly. I trust you.”

You chuckled and she nodded.

You needed to pull her closer to you, because she was sitting in front of you like she was frozen. Only when she was hovering above your neck, smelling your blood, her eyes turned red and she grabbed your neck quickly to dig her teeth into your skin as her hunger took control of her.

“Jagi?”

You choked out when you could feel yourself getting lightheaded and Eunbin jumped back immediately.

“Oh my god, did I drink too much?”

She asked in shock and you shook your head while you smiled, making Eunbin sigh in relief. In response, you pulled her closer again, this time letting her cuddle into your side instead.

‘No’ is a good song, don’t get me wrong, but Hobgoblin was such an unexpected and honestly great shift in concept for them. It was heavily played in various countries and you’d hear it everywhere because it was catchy and G O O D!

Seunghee

Seunghee would look at you rubbing your head in pain, trying to maintain a straight face. Her features would eventually give her out and she'd burst out in laughter. She'd walk slowly towards you, still laughing and wiping her tears away. "Baby, are you okay?" she'd barely manage to get out, earning a smack on the arm from you.

Yujin

Yujin would laugh at the sound of your head hitting the door frame, but would be by your side in a second. She'd kiss your head softly, but you'd still hear her giggling quietly.

Seungyeon

Seungyeon would roll over in laughter for a solid few minutes, barely breathing. You'd pout at her telling her how mean she's being. While catching her breath she'd keep switching between telling you how dumb and cute you are, eventually giving your head a kiss.

Sorn

"Ah, you're such an idiot", Sorn would laugh at you loudly. She'd walk over to you and rub the spot where you hit your head, trying not to laugh while pulling you into a kiss.

Yeeun

Yeeun's eyebrows would go up in surprise, followed with a small snort of laughter, but would quickly switch to her baby voice. "No, my baby, are you okay?" she'd coo at you, pushing you to sit on the couch and climb on your lap while kissing your head repeatedly.

Elkie

The pain you'd feel would be quickly replaced with some in your ear at the sound of Elkie's loud laugh. She'd roll on the couch, hitting the material repeatedly and laughing with her mouth open. "I hate you so much", you'd say to her and she'd fail to answer you because of her intense laughing fit. You'd sit next to her and pout with your arms crossed and Elkie would eventually crawl up to you and kiss your cheek, saying sorry (but still laughing).

Eunbin

Eunbin's gaze would shot up, her eyes wide and in shock. She'd see you rubbing your head and cursing under your breath and would start laughing. It would gradually grow from small giggles to loud laughter. "Idiot", she'd say in between laughs, pulling you to where she was sitting and smothering you in kisses.

How Mafia!CLC Would Protect Their S/O from Danger

A/N: I don’t know shit about the mafia but I hope this is okay

Seunghee:

When Seunghee was informed you'd been taken by a local gang as some form of 'revenge', her blood ran cold.

She temporarily shut down any major operations that were taking up her time just so she could clear everything to get you back

She would be distant towards everyone, shutting herself in her office and only allowing people in who had any leads on your whereabouts

As soon as she found you she'd be in there herself, her best men flanking her as she took you back to safety

she'd implement a strict security regime for you until she was sure that you were out of the spotlight, she wasn't going to lose you again

she made sure you knew that she'd never bee so careless again and that you were safe now

no matter how dangerous the woman came across, you always knew she had a soft spot for you and she'd never intentionally use you as a mere pawn in her game of life.

Yujin:

Some guy that Yujin had yet to settle her affairs with was the one to come after you

Yujin immediately felt guilty as hell, knowing she had to get you back safe and sound in her arms again

she'd send out her best people, forgetting about any prior engagements - you were her number one priority, always.

she'd have everyone she knew on the hunt for you, refusing to think about anything else for the time being

as soon as she found where you were she'd be doing her best to get you out as soon as possible

she'd prefer to keep things clean but if people tried to keep you from her any longer than she wouldn't hesitate to get bloody

apologises profusely and promises to never let you out of her sight again once you're back by her side

Seungyeon:

For sure the leader of her branch of the mafia, meaning she knows people and she won't hesitate to call on anyone

she's super overprotective over you, so it would be a wonder as to how you got yourself into trouble anyway

her highest ranked men all know what you look like and are familiar with your name etc. so if they ever see you out and something looks suspicious they'll be there to protect you

and that's what happened

some creepy dude was following you home, calling you names and whistling while you tried desperately to walk faster

one of Seungyeon's henchmen happened to be scouting around the area and didn't hesitate for a second to put the guy back in his place

before escorting you home to safety, making sure that you called Seungyeon to let her know that you had gotten home safely

Sorn:

Sorn wanted to take you back to Thailand for a holiday so you could meet some of her friends and family, and she could spend some time in her hometown with you

she knew it would be dangerous, going back to the city she was forced to leave because her life was in danger

but she had brought protection in the form of her best mafia men, and a gun hooked in her waistband at all times

However, her planning and security hadn't quite worked out in her favour; someone had ratted on her whereabouts to some people who didn't really... like Sorn, to be nice about it.

Sorn was given an ultimatum; your life, or hers.

Sorn immediately gave herself up, trying to keep you quiet as you burst out in tears. She could only hope her security team had noticed their absence and came to your rescue - lucky for you it seemed fate was on your side.

After being scared shitless and you barely being able to stand, Sorn, booked the first flight back home that she could get on, promising to do her very best to protect you and keep you from harm in the future.

Yeeun:

Yeeun has always been silent but deadly, and always feared as one of the top dogs around

so when you went missing, everyone who knew about Yeeun was curious as to who would have the balls to do such a thing to a woman who could ruin your life in mere seconds

it turned out to be a new guy around, and he clearly hadn't learned the rules around town yet

Yeeun marched straight to where you were supposedly being held, bringing her most dangerous fighters with her

You were soon back by her side, clinging onto her as she tried to comfort you

she got you out before you could witness what her men were going to do to the dickheads who dared to try her

Yeeun would make sure that everyone knew what would happen if they messed with her, and after that, no one dared to even look at you the wrong way again

Elkie:

Elkie was the baddest bitch in town, and you were never afraid of anything knowing she would be there to protect you.

However, a man had been coming into your workplace for the last week, harassing you about Elkie's whereabouts until your manager kicked him out again

you told Elkie straight away, knowing she'd handle the situation before it got out of hand.

And sure enough, your girlfriend came home, and you had to do your usual job of tending to her bloodied fists and icing her injuries

"That guy won't be bothering you again, okay babe?" She would ask rhetorically, wincing a little as you tended to her cuts

you thanked her for keeping you safe once again, forever wondering how you managed to get such a closed off and tough woman to be so vulnerable with you

(btw Elkie as a mafia leader with a leather jacket, black hair and shades? I would like to see it.)

Eunbin:

When you weren't picking up Eunbin's calls or answering her texts, she knew something was seriously wrong

You and Eunbin usually stay in contact as much as possible, because in her line of work she knew what it was like to lose people and she sure as hell wasn't going to lose you too

she was heading home one night and saw that your front door was a crack open, which was certainly unusual for you to ever do that

She went in and saw you huddled in fear - someone had broken into the apartment looking for Eunbin.

She took you into her arms, cradling you as she looked at the mess that the criminals had left the place in

as soon as she had calmed you down and cleaned the place up a bit, she made a few calls and soon had the men who threatened you wrapped around your finger.

She came to bed soon after, wrapping her arms around you and kissing the back of your neck, telling you that nothing like this would ever happen again; she'd protect you.
